Residents of Saanich, especially those who took the time to participate in the People, Pets and Parks strategy, I wish to clarify why I voted in opposition to the Saanich’s People Pets and Parks (PPP) bylaw on Oct. 6.

There seems to be a real gnashing of the teeth these days, whether it’s how the dogs are destroying the harmony of nature or how the deer are destroying the environment.

This is a letter sent to B.C.’s auditor general:

Grumpy Taxpayer$ has raised concerns about the size and cost of conference delegations sent collectively by neighbouring South Island municipalities and in particular by Langford.

At its July 24 and Oct. 10 meetings, Oak Bay council voiced its intent to drop the speed limit on McNeill Avenue, devolving the 4,500-vehicle-a-day collector road to a local road, and diverting its traffic to neighbourhood streets.

I would like to offer a new slant on the culling of deer and other of God’s creatures.

Wow, way to go team! You really put the boots to those whimpering dog-lovers. The silly klutzes wanted a few more concessions on PPP, things like expanding the tight 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. leash-optional regulation, and maybe expanding the number of parks that have leash-optional at all, stuff like that.

The District of Saanich has over 160 parks for its residents and visitors to enjoy. I want to tell the visitors and tourists coming our way for a holiday, that when they bring their dog with them, they will be severely restricted on where they can take their pet off leash in Saanich.

A recent letter attests to the potential for violence between cyclists and motorists, and it is not hard to understand why.

Too many illegal coach houses/garden suites/laneway houses? I’ll tell you why: try legalizing one. That’s what I’ve been up to for a couple of years now.
