Thanks to volunteers at 19 Wing Comox throughout the weekend, the airpark at the south end of the base on Military Row in Comox is shining brightly with Christmas spirit for those passing by.
Facing the Comox Valley Airport terminal, many of the static aircraft displays are decorated in thousands of lights for almost the entire month of December.
People are encouraged to view the display from their car only; due to COVID-19, gathering restrictions are in place and people are strongly discouraged from exiting their vehicles.

Each aircraft was “adopted” by a wing unit or squadron, and decorated by a team of volunteers who adhered to COVID-19 protocols.
The aircraft at the airpark will be lit up each evening until 9 p.m. through the month of December, except for the 24, 25, and 26.
“19 Wing Comox created the Comox Air Force Museum’s Heritage Air Park Christmas lights as a way to raise the morale of our members and the morale of our Comox Valley community during the holiday season,” said 19 Wing Commander Col. Dany Poitras.
“Initially, we had hoped to permit the public to walk around the airpark, enjoying the lights up close while adhering to provincial restrictions. As those restrictions have now tightened and no public gatherings are permitted, we made a decision to continue with the decoration of our historical aircraft and share the holiday spirit with the community from the road.”
