The Nanaimo Clippers will make final decisions this week on the group of guys they’ll have in the locker room and on the ice as they pursue a championship.
The B.C. Hockey League’s trade deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 10.
The Clippers go into the week in a position of strength, five points clear atop the BCHL’s Coastal Conference after a loss and an overtime win this past weekend against divisional rivals. Nanaimo lost 4-2 to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 6, at Frank Crane Arena, then defeated the Victoria Grizzlies by a 3-2 score on Saturday, Jan. 7, down the Malahat.
In the loss, Kai Daniells and Michael Craig scored for the Clippers and Aidan Campbell tended goal as the team was outshot 32-23.
The next night, Willyam Gendron scored twice in regulation for the Clips and Daniells potted the OT winner. Campbell turned aside 48 shots as the visitors were outshot 50-34.
GAME ON … The Clippers have two home games at Frank Crane Arena this coming weekend, as they host the Surrey Eagles on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m., then host the Langley Riverment on Sunday, Jan. 15, in a 2 p.m. matinee.
