Bill or “Mac” as he was affectionately known, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family, January 9th, 2018.
“Mac” was a true west-coaster, having moved from Vancouver, where he was born, to Bamfield, where he spent a good portion of his years involved in the commercial fishing industry, and, later with wife Laurie, owning a fishing lodge and guiding business.
After moving to Sidney, then finally, Campbell River, Mac enjoyed living out his passion by creating eclectic and unique pieces of folk art, working with the local artists’ community and enjoying life!
Survived by wife Laurie, brother Tony McDermid (Roselyn), sister Marie Heden, sons Warren Westwood (Patty) & Darren Westwood, grandaughters Shaylene, Katlyn, Raechel & grandsons Jeremy, Brandon, Garret.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Nasir and the nursing staff in Unit 3D for the love and support in caring for Mac and our family.
A celebration of life will follow in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation.
