August 17, 1953 - November 19, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of William Alan Moore announces his passing on November 19, 2022, at the age of 69. Alan will be lovingly remembered by his partner and best friend, Joanne; children, William (Jess) and Christine (Conrad); grandchildren, Avery and Felix; sisters, Marian (Keith) and Sheila (Bill); nieces and nephews; special family friends Alan Bush (Ruby) and Joelle; and countless others who are proud to call him their friend.
Alan was born on August 17, 1953, in Val-d'or, Quebec. He spent his early years living in several remote mining communities, where he developed his lifelong love of the beauty and freedom of the great outdoors. He moved to Toronto in high school, but his appreciation for nature always stayed with him. In his later years, he used his knowledge of the outdoors to help others by volunteering with a search-and-rescue team on Vancouver Island.
From an early age, Alan was endlessly curious about aviation. Upon graduating from high school, he obtained his pilot's license and began flying a variety of planes for small airlines in Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. Eventually, he moved to Victoria and started working as a pilot for Jazz Aviation, where he spent the final years of his career.
The only thing Alan loved more than airplanes, boats, ATVs and motorcycles was spending time with his loved ones. His trips to Ontario cottage country every autumn to visit family and friends were always a highlight of his year.
We toast a life well-lived and a friend who will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be planned and held in the summer of 2023, to remember with joy our beloved Al.
The family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
