Wanda Pietrzak

After an accomplished life, we are sad to announce the passing of our loving mother Wanda, aged 88, on January 17,2020. She was predeceased by her husband Adam and son Kevin. Wanda will be greatly missed by her children Garrett, Cheryl (Bernie), Randall and Laurel. She was a loving Babchi to her grandchildren Christopher, Jason (Eileene), Sonya (Blake), Sarah (Kurtis), Derek (Aleana), Michael (Jessica), David (Miranda), Rachel (Mike), Hannah (Chris), and great grandchildren Avery, Zoey, Quinn, Greer and Porter.
Born a first generation Canadian of Polish ancestry, Wanda grew up on a farm near Vegreville, Alberta. From humble beginnings, she became a pioneer in the health food industry and an entrepreneur ahead of her time. As meaningful as her success was, her greatest joy was having her family and friends around her throughout her life. For 25 years her dream home on Mayne Island became a hub for family gatherings and entertaining. Well versed in many subjects, Wanda could strike up a conversation with anyone. Whether it was over a game of bridge or a cup of coffee, she could talk about her many adventures around the world, her latest book or politics with young and old. Wanda was the matriarch of our family, and a dear friend to many as well. We will fondly miss the great hostess that welcomed everyone to her home for dinners, laughter, and usually fresh bread.
Family, friends and others whose lives Wanda touched are invited to the Costin Hall, 7232 Lantzville Road, Lantzville BC at 1 pm on Saturday February 8th. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Make a Wish Foundation of Canada.
