November 24, 1929 - January 14, 2021
It is with such sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Jim Carver. He lived a wonderful 91 years, although this past year had been a bit of a tough one. Restrictions prevented visitors which lead to his need for extra care in August 2020 when he moved into assisted living. Malaspina Chartwell took wonderful care of him right up to his passing.
Jim came to Nanaimo in the early 50's where he met his sweetheart Florence; they married in 1956 and had two children, Murray and Lynn. Jim was a tire man for many years working at Firestone, D&D Tire and OK Tire.
As an avid fisherman and hunter, he spent many years with the Nanaimo Fish and Game. He also loved to camp and enjoyed several years with his wife Florence, towing a trailer to favourites spots on VI, other parts of BC, and across Canada and the US.
Jim enjoyed his family immensely, and cherished the times when they were able to visit; especially his grandchildren Dustin (Jade), Jenna, Meghan, Jared and Liam, and his two great grandchildren Enzo and Eliza. Even at 90, he could play a mean game of crib with his grandsons. He will be lovingly remembered as a kind and gentle man by all that knew him.
He is predeceased by his wife Florence (2011) and his sister Lana (2012).
He is survived by his children, Murray (Val) of Nanaimo, Lynn Peterson (Jeff) of Port Moody, two sisters, Sandy Nugent of Surrey, Judy Smith (Gary) of Devon AB, and his brother John Mussick (Anne) of Burns Lake. Jim also has dozens of nieces and nephews across Canada and in the US that always remember "Uncle Jimmy" as someone they looked up to and admired. He is now reunited with his love Flo, but forever in our hearts.
No service at this time; in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Alzheimer's Society.
