In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Wallace Johnston after a short illness in Nanaimo July 21.
Steve is predeceased by his parents Norm and Tina Johnston. He is survived by sisters Carol (Don) Schibler, Norma Popham and brother Darrell (Jane)Johnston. Nephews Shane, Cody, Troy(Brianne) and niece Katie. Grandnephew Finn and Grandniece Juniper.
Although born and raised in Campbell River, he made his home in Nanaimo for over 35 years. He worked in various positions as a bouncer, tree planter, fisherman, working in call centers and finally to working in telecommunications with Tigertel. Steven was the kind of person who was able to make friends wherever he went and made them life long ones. If he knew and liked you, then you were golden. You could always count on Steve to have coffee every day at Tim's where he could shoot the breeze with you, give advice or make you laugh. Now he is seated at the table with all those who have gone before. Having special meals of Cabbage and Rice or Spaghetti and Apple Pie.
A special thank you to all the nurses and doctors in Nanaimo Hospital who took care of him when he couldn't do that himself. A big thank you to Shari and Natalie who were there for him every day. That in itself lifted his spirits.
We will be hold a Celebration of Life in Nanaimo on Aug 21 at 2 pm at the Tim Horton's on the corner of Comox and Wallace, where he met with friends.
Pull up a chair and share your favorite memories and stories.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Lung Association in his memory.
