June 16, 1936 - January 10, 2023
Jocelyn (Tootsie) McCooey, age 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January 10, 2023. She was born in Vancouver to Fred and Stella Stephens. Jocelyn moved to Vancouver Island to Fanny Bay, then the family settled in Royston. Jocelyn spent almost her whole life in Royston except for a few years when the family was posted to Quebec.
Jocelyn was married to her loving husband Leighton (deceased) for 65 years and after spending only one anniversary apart, they're now reunited.
She is survived by her children, daughter Theresa (Stewart), son Mike (Debbie), daughter Brenda (Scott), son Larry and son Lloyd (Jocelynne). Also, by her grandchildren Greg (Marsha), Cathy (Zak), Kim (Chris), Aaron, Joshua, Justin (Tricia), Tyler and her great grandchildren Caley, Trent, Bryce, Ava and Ella.
She is also survived by a large extended family.
Jocelyn was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Florence Chapter No. 53 and served as Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3099. Tootsie worked at Zellers in the stockroom for almost 20 years until retirement. Jocelyn and Leighton had a large circle of friends and loved to socialize. Her greatest joy in her later years, was to spend time with the grandchildren, especially when all the family gathered to socialize on Christmas eve at their house.
