It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Podritske due to complications after open heart surgery at 79 years of age. Ron was born in Alert Bay, BC and moved to Nanaimo with his family early in his childhood. He is predeceased by both parents Emilie and Reginald Podritske, sister Doris Johnson, brothers Don and Ken Podritske and is survived by his sister Ruby Briggs, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
Ron is known for his time as being the Vancouver Sun Newspaper agent in Nanaimo for many years then as a Canada Post contractor delivering parcels throughout Nanaimo and moving on to be a postal clerk until his retirement.
Ron was also involved in Scouts Canada and being the First Nanaimo Rover Advisor for many years. Ron was known to everyone as "Pod".
Many thanks to the ICU doctors and nurses at Victoria Royal Jubilee Hospital who made Ron's last few hours comfortable.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date in the summer.
