Reed Fraser passed away on May 12, 2023, he was born on August 12, 1942. He leaves to mourn, his spouse, Judy Elliott; son, Jamie (Jennifer); daughter, Michelle Vandesype (Brent); Pam Elliott (Scott Young); and brothers, Mike (Marina) and Peter (Jennylynn), and sister-in-law, Kathy.
Reed had several grandchildren that he adored, and who will miss him, and they are Lucas Vandesype, Sarah Simpson (Kiefer), Kyle Fraser, Kennedy Fraser, Kylie Vandesype, Miles Elliott, and Kira Elliott.
Reed was predeceased by his parents, younger brother, Tony, and Edward Elliott.
Born in Quebec, Reed followed his father into the paper industry. Reed was a proud papermaker in Port Alberni for over 40 years until retiring in 2003. Reed also umpired both baseball and slow-pitch, an avocation he enjoyed till the end... first umping Jamie and his friends, then Edward and his crew, to presiding over our Seniors' games, for a total of maybe 60 years or so! Reed also volunteered for many things. He was on the Board of the Bradley Centre, and he reliably worked at our Rotary Bottle Drop. After retiring from the Mill, he also helped out at Dean & Claudia's farm, happily driving a tractor during haying and mowing the lawn!
Also missing him will be his early morning "coffee buddies" at McDonald's.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 5 at the Bradley Centre, Coombs, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
