1964-2020 ~ It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Hemingway. He passed away peacefully in his home, accompanied by his partner Kim after a year-and-a-half-long battle with ALS.
A lifelong resident of the Comox Valley, Paul is survived by his children, Miles and Martin, stepchildren, Maxine and Simon, grandchildren, Hunter and Georgia, siblings, Alan, Neil, Toni and Marie, his parents, Brian and June, and his beloved dog, Friggen.
Paul's memory will live on through the stories he told his friends, family, and anyone interested. These stories, no doubt, were born of his need to live every day to its very fullest.
Paired with his wicked sense of humour, Paul's captivating recounts of his life will be the foundation of his legacy as they are repeated night after night by those close to him.
His passion, other than making others laugh, included woodworking, reconstructing cars, motorcycles, fishing, farming, and spending time with his friends and family. Always up for an adventure, Paul sought to experience everything possible, be it at a garage sale or a concert.
Advocating where he could, in the immediate wake of his diagnosis, Paul mobilized to raise funds for the ALS Society of British Columbia and continues to do so through a memorial golf tournament (TBD).
His family would like to thank his friends, neighbours, Dr. G. Kisman, Dr. Biswas, his palliative care team, and the ALS Society of British Columbia for their immense support.
Condolences may be offered in the form of a donation to the ALS Society of British Columbia.
