With love in our hearts and minds we are sad to announce the passing of Patricia Lenore (Lennie) Nicell on July 15, 2017.
Predeceased by her loving husband Mike Nicell. Lenore is survived by her 3 children, Paul (Darcie), Mary (Colin) and Brenda, and her grandchildren Kelly, Amanda (Mike), Shayne (Kasandra), Michael (Shandi), Claire, Elina (Jason), Connor, and her great-grandchildren Skylar, Mason, Sommer and Amidala.
Lenore was born in Calgary. Her early years were spent riding and training horses, and competing in equestrian competitions. Lenore was an accomplished nutritionist, completing her post-secondary education in Canada and England. She participated in research projects where she drafted and presented multiple papers in her field. Later in her career, Lenore was the administrator for long term care facilities. She conducted studies on how environments especially designed for people with Alzheimer’s positively affect their level of function. Lenore’s design has since been adopted internationally. Lenore had a passion for gardening, writing short stories, and enjoyed boating adventures with her husband on their boat, About Time.
Lenore’s family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Cortez and her caregivers at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox who showed empathy, compassion and kindness during her final days.
The family cannot thank Sally enough for her unwavering friendship, love and support for Lenore over many years.
There will be no service per Lenore’s request.
