Nora passed away quietly on November 11, 2018 at Nanaimo Hospital at the age of 85. Nora was a kind-hearted and compassionate soul that handled all that life sent her way with unbelievable strength and grace.

Nora was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Karl Elon Lidberg, father Alexander Fraser, mother Tessa Fraser, grandmother Mary Berray, and sister Maxine Sonne.

She is survived by her children, Julie-Ann Wright (Larry) and Rick Lidberg; four grandchildren Rick Lidberg (Jr.), Brandon Lidberg, Garret Wright (Christina) all of Courtenay and Kathleen Wright of Vancouver. She is also survived by her twin sister Nina Saarikko of Campbell River; sister-in-law Isabelle Lidberg of Nanaimo; nieces and nephews Bob Saarikko, Janice Kenny (Mike), and David Saarikko all of Campbell River; Laurie Smith (John) of Bowser, and Sherri Lidberg (Darcy) of Nanaimo.

Nora was born at Little Qualicum on July 9, 1933. She spent her childhood between Qualicum and her beloved Grandmother's farm in Fanny Bay. Later in life she bought a small property with a cabin next to that farm in Fanny Bay so her grandchildren could experience where she spent much of her childhood. Summers at the cabin will be cherished memories.

Nora married Karl Lidberg in 1954 and moved to Sayward, then to Courtenay the following year. She worked as a telephone operator prior to her marriage and after raising her family Nora started working at the Vancouver Island Vegetable Co-Op, eventually becoming the Manager; and working there until the facility was moved down island and she retired.

Nora had a passion for reading, was a gifted artist, avid gardener and a remarkable cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays.

The Family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Cumberland Dialysis Unit Staff, Nanaimo Hospital Renal Unit and Palliative Care Unit Staff, and Doctors Jonathan Reggler, Rene Weir, Naomi Glick, Sally Smith, David Fenton and Karen Braun for the care and compassion they provided.

There will be no service by request. Donations may be made to the BC Kidney Foundation or BC Cancer Association.
