March 25, 1998 - April 20, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce our sweetest child Nick passed away on April 20, 2024. Nick was born on March 25, 1998, in Duncan, B.C.. He attended Queen of Angels Elementary & Middle School for ten years and finished his schooling at Cowichan High School. He was such an amazing child who everyone loved.

Nick played baseball for nine years through the Duncan Junior Baseball Association and competitively with the Cowichan Valley Mustangs, with his father John coaching for all those years. There are many good memories of friends from baseball and school.

Nick was very close to his two brothers, Daniel and Samuel, and they were always doing something fun together. After graduation, Nick moved to Victoria and worked several different jobs. He had thought about being a pilot and did some training and flying but ultimately, he pursued carpentry and was in his fourth year of an apprenticeship.

Nick was a very talented man. In addition to his carpentry skills, he was the singer and drummer of the band Electric Jane alongside friends Jake and Ben. A fun part of that is Nick, Sam, Dad, and sometimes Mom used to play "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" together.

Around this time in his life, Nick met his partner Anika Rai in Victoria whom he and the family love dearly. They had recently talked about future plans for marriage and children.

The extended family went to many Electric Jane performances, with Dad and Mom, of course, being their number one fans. Nick was always doing something with family or friends, whether travelling, camping, hiking golfing, jamming, or simply hanging out.

Nick will be lovingly remembered by all.

He was predeceased by Opa Georg Woernle ll and his sister Alicia.

Nick is survived and loved by his parents John and Michele West, brother Sam (Paris), partner Anika Rai, and many others, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, more family, and friends.

The West family thanks the RCMP, Coast Guards, SAR Teams, USA County Sheriffs, Sands Funeral Services, and the many volunteers, family, and friends for all the efforts, help, and comfort in these trying times.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Edward's Church, 2085 Maple Bay Road in Duncan on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:30 am.

A Celebration of Life will take place at noon on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Sahtlam Tree Farm 4901 Conifer Way in Duncan, B.C.
