Ngaire Mary Audet (nee WYNANS)

It's uncommon in this day and age to meet someone who is genuinely happy to see you and greets you with a huge smile. Let alone someone who truly listens to you and actually empathizes and wants to help. Someone who goes out of her way to catch up on old acquaintances. This 'earth angel' put on her wings on October 17th and accomplished what she had always wanted. To fly.

Ngaire was a wife, mother, sister, friend, mentor, confidant, helper, teacher, and smiling example of living life to the fullest to many people in her home town of Nanaimo. She spent her working career talking to people, listening to what they had to say, and most times trying to help. She had a genuine interest in people and always said that 'her customers' was what she missed most when she retired in 2012.

Although she worked for Overwaitea Foods for 27 years, she always stayed part-time so she could take care of her boys. She was so proud of her two sons Justin and Jordan and loved her new role as Ni Ni to Jordan's stepdaughter Brooklyn.

Ngaire leaves behind a legacy of happy memories including great conversations, good advice, generosity, helping others, walks with friends, meals and laughter with people she loved, gardening, traveling the world, enriching her spiritual life and a large yoga family she loved.

To use one word to describe her was impossible. Genuine. Happy. Giving. Confident. Smiling. Empathetic. Caring. Loving. Infectious. Silly. Beautiful. Radiant. Outgoing. Rare.

She fell ill snorkeling in the Galapagos' on Friday, October 13th and passed away in Guayaquil, Ecuador of heart failure on October 17th. She was very spiritual and believed that all things happen for a reason. That we are all connected.

She would want to leave a message of love, laughter, peace, and harmony. Play more. Hug more. Have more conversations. Meditate. Dance. Sing. Take chances. Get massages. Touch. Hold Hands. Travel. Dream big. Ask for what you want. Do what you love. Love what you do. Be in the moment. Help others. Cry. Laugh. Laugh so hard you snort.

Smile.

Oh, that smile.

Her smile was contagious, and she leaves many to mourn her.

She was predeceased by her mom and dad, Hans and Phylis Wynans.  She leaves behind her husband Pat, sons Justin and Jordan, stepdaughter Mary, her sister Anna (Rick) and brother Randy (Jackie) and their extended families. And many, many friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Vancouver Island Conference Center, 101 Gordon Street, Nanaimo, BC.
