Marion Daly (née Lindsey)

January 28, 1929 – November 1, 2021
Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 1, 2021 at the Chemainus Health Care Center, her home for the past three years.
Born on January 28, 1929, to Alex and Sadie Lindsey in Abernethy, Saskatchewan, she spent her childhood years with her older brother Oliver and younger brother Gerald. Marion was very proud of her Saskatchewan heritage.
Seeking adventure, at the age of 20, Marion followed a friend to Prince Rupert to work as a nurse’s aide, where she met Des on a blind date, who was working as a carpenter to build the new Prince Rupert Hospital. Des and Marion married in 1950 and moved to Vancouver where their eldest daughter was born. With their infant daughter they moved to Ladysmith where Des was hired by Crown Zellerbach. From a rented house in Ladysmith, they purchased their first home in Cedar that, after four children, the family outgrew so bought the farm in Saltair in 1959 where they raised their six children. Over the next 40 years many wonderful memories were created on the farm with the family, extended family and friends.
Mom was renowned for her baking including apple pies and shortbread along with her special mac and cheese which her grandchildren loved. “Nana” loved to knit and sew for the grandchildren and extended family who all have treasures of her handiwork.
Prior to COVID, Mom created many wonderful memories with her daughters on short trips, day trips, walks or time spent at the AC. After breaking her hip on September 9, 2021, Mom decided it was her time to join Dad and grandson, Christopher.
Mom is survived by her six children, Sherriden, Shannon (Sharon), Paddy (Randy), Perry (Trina), Kelly (Grant),
Lindsey (Brad) along with 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
The family extends their sincere thanks and appreciation to her Chemainus Health Care Center family, especially through the COVID isolation. CHCC provided exceptional care and shared their love to mom for the past three years. A private family internment was held on November 8, 2021.
Mom will forever rest in her perpetual sunny garden.
