December 19, 1933 - February 28, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Marion Belle Guild in Parksville on February 28, 2024, at the age of 90. The family would like to thank the staff at Stanford Seniors Village for their compassionate care.

She was the daughter of Charles and Ethel Guild and wife of the late Keith MacKenzie. She leaves behind her siblings Kathy and Steve, four stepchildren, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Marion was born in Royal Oak, Michigan, but grew up and was educated in Fort Frances, Ontario. She earned her Master's of Social Work degree at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and started her social work career in Atikokan, Ontario. She worked there for several years before moving to Winnipeg to work for Children's Aid. While in Winnipeg, she took advantage of an opportunity to work as a director for Foster Parents Plan which took her to Saigon, Viet Nam during the war years. Upon her return to Canada, she took up residence in Victoria, BC where she worked at the Victoria Mental Health Centre. She and Keith met and married in Victoria and retired together to Parksville, BC. Marion was an active church member, an avid bridge player, and enjoyed reading and dialog with members of her book clubs. Marion was much loved by her family and all who came to know her. She cared for people and supported many good causes. If so inclined, in lieu of flowers, a donation made in Marion's name to Plan International Canada would be wonderful.
