December 18, 1926 - February 2, 2024

In loving memory ~

Born in Vancouver on December 18th 1926, passed away peacefully on Feb 2, 2024 with family by her side.

Peggy grew up on a farm in Kamloops with her loving parents John Byers and Dora Gibson. She moved to Vancouver Island at the age of 17 and started her first job at the Maple Bay Inn. It was here that she met the love of her life Frank Symes and they had two children Susan and Chris. Sadly, Frank passed away but with Peg's indomitable spirit and faith in God she found her second husband George and went on to have two more daughters Tanya and Tammy.

Peggy loved people, animals, music, writing and most anything that touched her soul but family always took precedence and her grandchildren provided a beacon of light in her life. She had never ending love, unending generosity and a strong strength of faith. This led her to open a home daycare that she ran for over 20 years. It was here that she touched the lives of so many more and she was often referred to as "Auntie Peggy". Peggy was actively involved not only in helping to raise a village but also had a passion for volunteering in community events, groups, and the active parish of St Peters Church.

Peggy is predeceased by her parents, and both husbands but is survived by her 4 children (Susan, Chris, Tanya, Tammy), 3 step children, six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Peggy was a beautiful person inside and out and radiated love and light into the world and she will be forever in our hearts.

Celebration of life will be held at St Peters Church on February 24th at 2:00pm.
