It is with a heavy heart I announce the passing of Joyce May Deas.
Born May 12, 1927 in Cornwall, Passed October 13th in Parksville, B.C. Joyce is predeceased by her Husband Dave in 1982 and her sister Loveday In 2020.
She is survived by nephews, Robert, Peter, and Andrew all in the UK.
Joyce worked at many things in her lifetime. She started off in Laundry then took some training and became a Telephone Operator. She did this in both the UK and for BC Tel. She came to Canada via Germany where her was stationed with the RAF.
He was offered Immigration status in Canada after his tour of duty was over and they moved to PEI with the Canadian Airforce.
She met her second husband Dave after her first marriage ended and together, they took up managing apartment buildings.
They moved to Vancouver Island, Campbell River and Victoria before ending up in Parksville where they managed the Cheney Lane Apartments for many years. When Dave died in 1982 Joyce carried on alone. Her Residence loved her.
Joyce was a hard working and dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br 49 in Parksville and the Ladies auxiliary in which she held many positions. She was awarded life membership by the Ladies Aux and later was the recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. Which is the highest award giving by the LA.
Joyce was much loved and respected by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by her Legion Family and especially by her long-time friend and caregiver Dorothy.
There will be no service at this time due to COVID, but if you wish, you can make a donation in her name to the Royal Canadian Legion BR49 in Parksville.
