Jack passed away peacefully on April 10 2022 at RestHaven Lodge in Sidney BC.
Jack was born and raised in Abernethy, Sask. He married the love of his life Joan in 1961 and eventually they settled in Qualicum Beach in 1969 after stints in Regina, Sask. with Sask Power and upstate New York with General Electric.
A true "Jack of all trades" he owned and operated The Qualicum Arms Inn with Joan, drove school bus in winters, and founded his electrical business Collins Electric. There was nothing in his mind that couldn't be fixed with electrical tape and a piece of wire!
Jack was truly invested in his community, spending many years as a volunteer firefighter, coaching youth sport and most notably serving 18 years on town council, including 8 years as Mayor.
Jack left his mark on the town and community with many legacy projects - QB Civic Center , The Town Hall , Eagle Park Care Facility, BMX bike park, and a new BC Ambulance station to name a few.
Jack loved Friday night steak night, travel, RVing with friends, fishing at his happy place at Horne Lake (and not catching anything!), golfing, curling and dancing with Joan. He led a big full life of 87 years and always had time for a happy "Hello" and "Good Morning"
Predeceased by parents Pat and Jack (Sr) Collins, brother Darryl "Duke" Collins, sisters Norah Arnold and Shirley Anderson.
Survived by his wife of 61 years Joan, daughter Tracey (Griffin) son Kim "KC" (Petra) granddaughters Dakota + Riley, step grandson Nico (Carina) and great granddaughter Isabella.
