Joan was born in Guelph, ON. At 21, her desire to travel led her to drive an Anglican Sunday School van through the Cariboo, BC. She ultimately found a home and the love of her life in Vancouver.
Before marrying, Joan was an active member of the Secretaries Association, winning Secretary of the Year and teaching at the Vancouver Vocational Institute.
In 1965, she met Don at the Marine Drive Golf Club and he danced his way into her heart. Two years later their daughter Donalyn was born, the joy of Joan’s life.
In 1991, Joan and Don moved to their dream home with an ocean view in Qualicum Beach. Joan loved golf, travel, music and laughing with friends. At the age of 50 her adventurous spirit prompted her to get her pilot’s license.
Joan passed away peacefully in her home with her family around her. She will be dearly missed by many including, daughter Donalyn, son-in-law Neil, and granddaughter Charlotte.
