December 19, 1925 - December 31, 2022
In loving memory ~
On New Year's Eve, 2022, Joan Bridget (nee Lott) Jackson passed away with her son by her side at the Comox Valley Seniors' Village, Courtenay, B.C.
She is truly mourned by her children, Ann (Rick) and Donald; grandsons Alexander (Adelina) and Matthew (Vanessa); and her much loved great-grandchildren, Kai and Skyla Joan. She is also remembered by Ryan, who has always called her Grandma, and his parents, Bob and Michele.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Alexander S. Jackson and by her parents, brothers and sisters. She was the last of her generation.
She was born December 19, 1925 in Pictou, N.S., the youngest child of Raymond and Elizabeth (nee Woodford of Conche, N.L.) Lott, and brought up in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island, N.S. She met the love of her life, Alex, who was stationed with the RCAF in Sydney, Gander and Goose Bay, during WWII. They were married in October 1945, moved to the West Coast in 1946 and settled in Courtenay in 1951. They built their home "halfway between Courtenay and Royston" in 1959 and lived there ever since, surrounded by the beautiful gardens and fruit trees they planted and nurtured.
The family extends a special thank you to Lee and Larry O'Brien and to Mom's best neighbour ever, Angie Thiele, for their friendship, care and support over these many years which allowed Mom to stay in her own home for so long.
The staff at the Comox Valley Seniors' Residence were especially caring and dedicated to Mom's care during her short stay with them.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1599 Tunner Dr., Courtenay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
