March 30, 2022
In loving memory ~
On March 30th, 2022, Jean Grison passed away peacefully while in residence at the Veteran's Hospital in Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec. Jean was the second of eight children born to Gilbert and Marie-Blanche Grison of Ottawa, Ontario.
Jean joined the army in 1950. He served in both Canadian Army Special Forces and Regular Forces until his honorable discharge in 1955. Jean was a member of the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and took part in the strategic Battle of Kap'Yong, Korea in April of 1951.
After his service in Korea, Jean was stationed at Camp Borden, Ontario where he would meet his future bride, Olene Laycock. They married in 1955 and moved to Montreal where their first child was born. The young family moved to Ottawa in 1956 where they remained until after the last of the six children had been born.
Jean had managed to build himself a successful career in sales and merchandising and by the summer of 1968 had moved the family of eight back to the Montreal area. The seventies brought challenges and changes to the Grison family. Eventually, Jean and Olene divorced. The "kids" grew up, and one by one, moved westward.
Jean was predeceased by his parents and siblings. He was also preceded in death by his son Robert in 2016. Jean is survived by his children Joseph, Janet, Andre', Paul and Laura, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousin Marlene and soulmate Jacqueline.
As per his wishes, Jean's ashes were laid to rest alongside those of his son Robert. An intimate family gathering took place on November 11th, 2022 in Nanaimo, B.C. to remember him and to celebrate his life.
May He Rest In Peace.
