Thanking God for the Life ~
The Rev. Canon Jim Lyster went peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sept. 2, 2022 after living well for many years with heart failure. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rosanne, their 3 children who he loved deeply and of whom he was very proud, Margaret Barg (Sam), Jeremy, and Katherine; his mother-in-law Audrey Farnden, as well as a supportive extended family and a wonderful community of friends, church family, colleagues and medical professionals.
Jim served as an Anglican Priest for 25 years, most recently in the parishes of St. Peter's Comox and St. Saviour's Denman Island. He loved to encourage people in their faith and to point them towards the truth of scripture. Jim walked miles around Comox everyday and loved the Marina. He was a joyful and peaceful light in our community.
Over the last several years, Jim served as a Patient Voice in the areas of Virtual Care and Heart Health as well as with the Primary Care Network. He found great value in working towards improving the experience of patients within the healthcare system.
A service will be held at St John the Divine Anglican Church in Courtenay on Sept 24 at 1:00 pm. It will also be livestreamed. Jim supported many ministries and charities. If you wish to make a memorial donation, you are invited to consider one of these that were important to him - Regent College, Ratanak International, HeartLife Foundation Canada - or another of your choice.
'May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.' Romans 15:13.
