1951-2021 ~ Greg passed away unexpectedly in Courtenay on October 18, 2021. Son of Dr. Clifford and Ruth Harrison, Greg was born in Turtleford, Saskatchewan and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Greg had a Masters of Education in special education and taught in the Edmonton public system and in psychiatric and correctional facilities in Alberta.
He later worked with adults in Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Greg was highly respected by his colleagues and especially his students.
Greg is survived by his loving partner Heather Crombie and her family, his brother Brian, sister-in-law Beckie, niece Emily and nephew Ben in Ottawa, his "favourite" sister Sandra in Courtenay, as well as his cousins. He will also be greatly missed by dear friends Ken Eastwell and his partner, and by Alice Michaels.
Greg retired to the Comox Valley to be close to his sister and the sea, and here devoted many years as a volunteer at the SPCA doing their gardening and grounds keeping. He took courses at ElderCollege and loved to travel internationally. Greg had visited more than 60 countries and he and Heather had many more trips planned.
Greg was well loved and was known for his kindness, empathy, spiritual nature, dry sense of humour and his infectious laughter.
Greg has been cremated and next spring a celebration of his life will be held.
Heather and Sandra wish to thank the 911 operator, emergency response team, and the nurses and physicians for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Comox SPCA.
