It's with great sadness the daughters of Eric Tope announce his passing on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the age of 89 at the View's.
Eric was born May 2, 1932 in Chilliwack, BC where he was raised. Here Eric worked and raised a family before moving to Courtenay 59 years ago.
Eric worked in the logging industry as a road builder for a variety of small and large companies thru out the BC coast. His final years of working were with JR Edgett and Ken Waterfield before fully retiring at the age of 82.
Eric is predeceased by his parents, sister Eva and partner of 45 years Hilda Strachan.
He is survived by his 5 daughters.
Pat (Barry) Rusch, Sayward, Dianna (Gord) Curtis, Okanagan Falls, Beverly (Brian) Leeming, Harrison Hot Springs, Betty (John) Frame, Gold River, Carol (Brent) Donaldson, Gold River, along with 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
When dad was not working he enjoyed being out camping with friends, watching slow pitch ball and having coffee with the boys at Edgett's shop.
Eric will be buried with his father in Chilliwack at a private ceremony.
There will be a gathering of friends in the summer, date and location to be announced later.
