Donna Louise Windecker (Outram)

In loving memory ~
Donna Windecker, aged 73 years, died in her Nanaimo home on January 6, 2023. She lived in Nanaimo all her life and is bereaved by her family and cherished friends. She is survived by her children, Jennifer and Billy, daughter-in-law Renata, granddaughters Amelia and Shelby, her great-granddaughter Felicity, her sister, Kathy of Prince George, and her brother Jim of Nanaimo. Friends Janice, Jade, and Jeanne knew and loved Donna for decades and all those connected to Donna will deeply mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marie, her sister Valerie, and her husband Bill.
Donna lived with an overwhelming faith in her higher power and offered her truth and understanding of human nature to those around her. She walked beside many in Nanaimo, both two-legged, and four-legged. She accepted everyone and was a passionate and dedicated animal lover, providing home and nourishment to many over the years, including several generations of feral cats throughout town.
She understood the disease of addiction and was an active member of the Al-Anon Family Groups for most of her life. Donna didn't judge and was not afraid of being judged. She was brutally honest with others and completely accepting of them.
Donna was a wildly creative landscaper, prolific soup-maker, the best Nanaimo Bar baker, and lived with a wide-open heart. She was a master prankster and laughing with Donna was great medicine.
An informal Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. at Janice and Chris' home in Nanaimo. Donations will also be collected at the Celebration, to be offered to the SPCA in Donna's name.
