January 12, 2020
DiAnne passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 12, 2020 at the age of 79. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she lived much of her young life on a small farm near Kenora, Ontario. DiAnne shared numerous stories about her adventures growing up. One of her favourite memories was of raising a young bull calf, whom she named Davy Crockett, and winning a prize at the fair with him. DiAnne also spoke about playing her accordion at local dances. It was her accordion playing skills that caught the attention of her future husband Victor, when her brother Ron brought him home late one evening. A couple years later they got married. She travelled out to Vancouver Island with Victor in 1957 from Ontario, and eventually settled in Youbou, where she and Victor started their family. After Vic began his job at the Crofton Mill, they built their family home on the corner of Herd and Osborne Bay Road, and lived there for 50 years raising 4 daughters. DiAnne loved to entertain, and hosted many dinner parties, filling the house with family and friends. She also spent many hours canning preserves, baking, and teaching her daughters these skills. An avid reader, her house held many books. Later in life, after raising their family, DiAnne and Vic became Snowbirds and travelled to Yuma, Arizona, during the Winter. They were also long-time members of the Valley Seniors in Duncan, attending many dances together. Another passion of DiAnne's was playing Bingo. Tuesday was always her Bingo day at the Seniors. Wedgwood House became her home over 3 years ago, where DiAnne made new friends, and enjoyed the social events there. DiAnne loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and devoted her life to loving and encouraging them all. She was predeceased by her parents, Linhard and Eileen Lindfors, her brother Ron, her husband Victor, and daughter Debbie Ann. She is survived by her daughters Lynn (Mike), Sue, April (Lance), Judy (Rob), 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marilyn, and her family, as well as many relatives in B.C., Ontario, and the States. Special thanks to Dr. Postuk. A Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Baptist Church, 1839 Tzouhalem Road, Duncan, B.C. on Saturday, February 22 at 1 pm. We will be having a Tea afterwards.
