With love, we celebrate the life of Delores Ann New, née Dobbie, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Predeceased by parents Charles and Gertrude Dobbie, sister Delia, brother George, and son Mike. She will live forever in the hearts of sister Yvonne (Sherman) and children Dana (Bob), Kelvin (Sharon), and Sandy (Jo).
She was loving Gramma to 10, and Great-Gramma to 1 adoring grandchild for whom she always had fresh baking and warm hugs. She will be greatly missed by cousins, nieces, and nephews alike. Delores was fiercely independent, generous, and caring; with humour and grace, she supported family, friends, and the greater community by volunteering a helping hand and with an open heart.
She loved strong coffee, a good book, her pets, and her plants. Tiny in stature, Delores had the strength of giants and leaves behind a trove of memories that inspire resilience in all who were lucky enough to know her.
Celebration of Life will be held May 20, 2023, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Vimy Community Hall, Duncan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cowichan Valley Hospice Society.
