Debra Lynn Retzler (nee Talbot)

June 29, 2022

November 8, 1955 - June 29, 2022
In loving memory ~
Debra Lynn Retzler (nee Talbot) passed suddenly on June 29, 2022, in Port Alberni B.C., at the age of 66.
She was born November 8, 1955, in Duncan, B.C. to Lloyd and Laverne Talbot (Nee Crabbe), and is survived by husband Randy, daughter Terrie Talbot (Jim), Stepdaughter Amanda Retzler (Jason and grandson's Bradley and Karter), brother Darcy, sister Brenda, sister-in- law Elaine Cahoon (Doug), multiple nieces and nephews, and pre deceased by brothers Danny (May 2022), Bob (January 2015), and Brad (February 2022).
Debbie grew up in Duncan and always felt like it was home. She loved to cook and can food, and readily shared her skills with many of her friends, family and neighbours. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, collecting antiques, giraffes, and looking after Randy. Randy was her first love, whom she never forgot about, and found him again 25 years ago and married him. She had an adventurous spirit and could live out of her "go bag" for days. This worked well when she "tangled back up" with Randy.
She and Randy enjoyed many adventures into the U.S. and across Canada, with some of the highlights being Disneyland, Las Vegas, flying over the Grand Canyon in a helicopter, eating copious amounts of lobster in all of the Atlantic provinces, and dipping her feet in Atlantic Ocean. They also travelled to the Bonneville Salt Flats, the Bad Lands, Athabaska Glacier, Devil's Tower, Mount Rushmore, Bryce Canyon and watched the ongoing carving of Crazy Horse.
Sister Deb, as many knew her, never hesitated demonstrating her love for you, and with equal passion would tell you when she didn't—it wasn't often you had to guess how she felt. Her ability to capture a room's attention was legendary, and she could silence a room with a statement. She was strong and independent. She didn't take anything from anyone, including "their shit". Her proudest accomplishment was her daughter, Terrie. She was eternally loyal to family and friends, even when they were "difficult to love". You know who you are.
She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
