Deanna Amelia Thompson (nee McLoughry)

It is with great sadness that the family of Deanna Amelia Thompson announces her passing on Thursday April 25 at age 81. Deanna will be forever remembered by her husband of 59 years, Alfred, her son Timothy, beloved nieces and nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her son Mykle.

Deanna was born in Moosomin Saskatchewan, the youngest of four sisters. After graduating as class valedictorian from RGH, she became a Laboratory Technician and an instructor at the University of Regina. In 1972 her family moved to Nanaimo, joining the faculty of Malaspina College (VIU) and the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. A strong supporter of performing artists, Deanna served as President of the Upper Island Music Festival and volunteered at the Port Theatre.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel on Thursday May 2 at 1 pm. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Upper Island Music Festival.
