January 15, 1942 - October 23, 2022
In loving memory ~
David (Dave) Scott went to his heavenly home into the presence of Jesus on October 23, 2022. Dave passed away in his home surrounded by family. He suffered from a car accident 21 years ago and was dealing with health issues, including cancer, for the past several years. Dave is survived by his wife Marlene, son Dan (Linette and granddaughters Jessa (Jeremy), Tiana and Moriah), daughter Ruth (Ken and granddaughters Lauryn and Jordyn), brother Brent and family in Calgary, and a nephew and a niece in Manitoba. He is predeceased by his brother Earl and sister-in-law Ruth in Manitoba.
Dave was born in Winnipeg, grew up in a small country town in Manitoba and attended a two-room school. In grade 11 he was sent to a Christian high school in Caronport, Saskatchewan for a better education. Here he had life-changing experiences, accepted Christ into his life, learned how to study and enjoyed playing football on the high school team. Dave and Marlene met in Bible school in Winnipeg and were married in 1967. We spent many wonderful years full of adventure in Esperanza, Tahsis and Campbell River.
Dave was always active in the church and in the community where he lived. Two of his favourite volunteer jobs were working as an ambulance attendant in Tahsis and later working with the less fortunate in the shelter and Sunday soup kitchen. There he would spend hours sitting around the table chatting about anything and everything with the men who needed these services. He earned the respect of many through his strength of character, sense of empathy and his sense of humor.
Dave was a quiet, humble man, loved to tease, had a deep knowledge of the Bible, knew lots of trivia and had an answer to every question. He enjoyed his occupation as a carpenter and was always working on something. In Tahsis he was "Dad" to many and built a trampoline in our backyard which drew children from across the town. He was like a brother to many, a man of dignity with a beautiful smile and a simple hand wave as he said goodbye to those who visited him. In the past 21 years, he was unable to do heavy work, but enjoyed his time in the backyard gardening, throwing the ball for whatever dog was here and being followed around by four pet rabbits looking for handouts of mint leaves.
Dave touched many lives. With the strength from God, he ran the race, finished the course and kept the faith.
Thank you, Dave, for your faithfulness to our God and to our family.
