Daphne Hillary McMahon

February 7, 1923 - October 20, 2017

 Daphne Hillary McMahon passed away peacefully at Comox Valley Hospital in Courtenay, BC on October 20, 2017 at the age of 94. She was born February 7, 1923 at the family homestead near Vermilion, Alberta to Bede and Mary Rogan.

Daphne served in the Canadian Air Force at Rivers, Manitoba as an Illustrator, drawing aircraft in detail for training purposes from 1942 until 1945 when she was discharged.

While in the service she met William Francis McMahon who was also stationed at Rivers, Manitoba as a pilot trainer. Bill and Daphne married October 8, 1945 in Vancouver, BC. Upon discharge, Bill & Daphne settled in Vancouver where Bill attended the University of British Columbia and later went to work for the Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) as a building inspector, transferring to Kamloops in 1964 and then to Comox in 1974 where they retired in 1980.

Bill and Daphne had 2 children, Anne Muriel born in 1955 and Thomas Francis born in 1950. Daphne lost the love of her life, Bill, on August 18, 2017. They were married for 71 years.

Daphne is survived by her son Thomas (Debbie), daughter Anne (Michael), 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brothers Noel (Ruth) and Clive of Vermilion, sister Cynthia of Victoria and many nieces and nephews.

Daphne was predeceased by her husband Bill, parents Bede and Mary Rogan and brother Hubert (Anne).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 26th at 1:00 pm from Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with Father Patrick Tepoorten and Father Joe Killoran, celebrants.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Comox Seniors Village for their care during Bill and Daphne's residency and would also like thank the staff on 3A at Comox Valley Hospital for their excellent care and compassion during Daphne's stay.
