It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beautiful Mom, Grandma, and best friend Christine. Born in 1930 on 'All-Hallows Eve' in Glasgow, Scotland.
A child during W.W.II, she and her siblings Jean, Alexander and young Marion were sent away to live in Blair Atholl (Castle) and attended school in Pitlochry, Scotland. Sadly, their mother had passed and their father was called to service. At the end of the war they were all happily reunited.
The 50's arrived and Christine, along with a group of friends, boarded a ship bound for Canada. The boat entered the St. Lawrence and they disembarked at Lachine, Quebec. Working and travelling ever westward, she and the love of her life 'fellow Scotsman' Norman, would marry and settle in Calgary. Three daughters were born Marion (Andy) and twins Allison and Denise (Bill).
Missing the ocean, the family finally settled in the beautiful Comox Valley (Courtenay). Norm worked as the Court Registrar and Christine enjoyed working many years for Dr. Carvalho & Dr. West.
Christine had a full life. Travelling, gardening, her passion for writing and enjoying time with her beloved grandchildren; Angus, Dillon, Megan and Paige. Healthy all her life, but at the end she had a fall, resulting in a broken hip. She spent time in the new Comox Valley hospital with its wonderful Doctors, Nurses and staff.
Her remaining years were spent at "The Views" in Comox. There, she happily connected again with our family hero, Dr. Susan Hunter.
We all wish to thank her for always going above and beyond for her patients. Also, much gratitude from Christine and her family to the talented, tireless, fun, compassionate, and caring staff at "The Views" doing their very best during these COVID times. A special thank you to everyone at Comox Valley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the cause of your choice. Christine always gave generously to the Salvation Army "Red Kettle" fund, which helps so many in the Comox Valley and beyond. As a proud Canadian, sharing kindness to others was always an important trait of Christine's.
She will be so very missed, and a celebration of Christine's life will be held safely at a later date.
