April 22, 1935 - August 27, 2021
On August 27, 2021, Bill Roses passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 22, 1935, in Nanaimo to parents Louis and Tereza, he moved with his family to Cumberland in 1940. It was in Cumberland, where he met his wife, Roberta. They were married for 62 years.
Bill had a lifelong love of sports. He played and coached basketball and baseball. Played Rebel's Slow Pitch. Hunted on his own until the age of 84. Skied and fished. However, his pride and joy was his cabin, Rosie's Roost.
It was up the lake that Bill would be found towing a log with his boat in order to restock the infamous wood pile, picking truck loads of blackberries to make blackberry wine, manning the JuJube jar for the kids, or busy trying to catch the biggest fish and keep his fishing tricks a secret.
He always had a reason (excuse?) to head straight back up the lake, the day after he got home. We always knew it was never about going to retrieve the forgotten loaf of bread, and more about getting another day closer to achieving his annual goal of 200 days a year up the lake. However, he always made it home in time to make Friday Night Dinner Out with Roberta.
Predeceased by his parents, sister, a baby brother, and many beloved dogs. Bill leaves behind his wife Roberta. Children Kelly (Gavin), and Robert. Grandchildren Elyse (Drew) and Jordan (Brooke). Sister-in-law Mary Aitken, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all the health care providers involved over the past year, but special thanks to Dr McKenzie, Dr Fehlau, Dr Daws, Stacey and Hana these past weeks.
Private cremation arrangements have been made.
