Beverley Joan Callarec (De Vries, nee Isidor)

September 25, 1933 - November 20, 2021
In loving memory of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, aunt, cousin, friend, mentor and confidant, Beverley Callarec (nee Isidor), who passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 20 in North Vancouver with her loving daughter, Lila, by her side.
Beverley (Bev) was born on September 25,1933 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As the daughter of musicians, she travelled across Canada with them as they played at various dance venues from Sylvan Lake to Niagara Falls.
At the age of 20, she married Bill DeVries and together they moved to Victoria and then later Courtenay. Beverley raised 3 children, Brian, Lila and Denise, while married to Bill. However, this union was not meant to be and they divorced.
Bev met Yves (Cal) Callarec who would prove to be a steadfast, caring and nurturing partner until his death in May, 2018. Bev enjoyed loving and rich relationships with her 4 step-children, Diane McQueen (nee Callarec), Robert, Lance and Marc (deceased).
Bev and Cal were active members of the church community, particularly, The Cumberland Community Church. Bev enjoyed hosting Bible Studies in their home, singing in the choir, and attending church functions throughout the Comox Valley.
Bev worked for many years as an assistant to the administrator at the Cumberland Health Center. She truly enjoyed her job and all the wonderful people she got to know and work with. Upon her retirement, she cherished time with her children, step-children, grandchildren and her dear friends. (you know who you are). Sewing, singing and her dogs were her passions as was the dedication she had to the Lord.
A warm and fun-loving woman with bright blue eyes, we will forever miss Bev's beautiful smile and how much she loved a good laugh. Even as her health deteriorated, she was always pleasant and kind. The nurses, physiotherapist and care aides at the Lynn Valley Care Center all loved her very much.
All are welcome to attend Bev's Celebration of Life at 1 pm on Monday, November 29 at the Comox Valley Funeral Home 1101 Ryan Rd. in Courtenay.
