Betty Alexandra Douglas (nee Sansom)

Betty Alexandra Douglas (Sansom) came to Canada as a war bride in 1945. Born in the village of Ash, (near Aldershot), England, November 22, 1925, she left school at an early age to help support her mother. Betty joined the Fire Brigade as a motorcycle dispatch rider in 1942.
Betty met her soon to be husband, Canadian Air Force Flt Lt Ronald Douglas. (d. 2009) in 1943. They married on October 11th, 1944 and moved to Canada in April 1945.
Betty was a force of nature, and will be missed by her family and friends here and across Canada. Her family would like to thank the home care staff who cared for her in often difficult circumstances in her final years.
Survived by her children, Charronne Johnston (Chris), Ronald H Douglas (Laurie), Jamie Douglas (Liz), grandchildren Kent Douglas, Erik Douglas, Tyson Douglas (Arianne). Great grandchildren Maleki Douglas, Vera-Jane Douglas.
Extended family Nicole Acheson (Brian), London and Pryce Acheson; Lee Hyndman (Chris), Nayana and Emma Hyndman, Last but never least, her beloved little dog Charlie, faithful friend and companion.
