Audrey Lorraine Olson

Audrey Lorraine Olson passed away peacefully the evening of Tuesday, January 31st, 2023.
Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Dennis, her children Justin (Barbara), Aaron (Bonnie), Nathaniel (Jennifer), and Jeremy (Leanne); 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends.
Born February 19th, 1949 and raised in Southeastern Saskatchewan. Audrey, along with her surviving husband, Dennis Meryl Olson would venture out west to British Columbia in search of a place to call home and raise a family. They would come to "The Hub City" of Nanaimo and put down roots... to never return to the plains of Saskatchewan. Many fond memories of the family would follow them and be reiterated by Dennis' parents, Meryl, and Dorothy Olson, who also came to call Nanaimo home.
Audrey was a secretary at Harbour City Trade School for 5 years and helped our father do janitorial for Beaver Janitorial. She contributed so much by connecting with, and supporting seniors in our community when she volunteered at The Nanaimo Seniors Center
Those who know her will attest to her strength through weakness, her devotion through pain and her witty sense of humour. We find ourselves lost in memories of an angel who graced this earth for such a short time to give others strength while bearing burdens of weakness. In frailty, she exhibited a level of love, devotion, and caring strength, that we will strive to achieve ourselves as we look to her in memory.
She is loved, she is missed, and she is finally at peace with her reward for a life well lived. In the famous words of Leonard Cohen "There is a crack in everything.... That's how the light gets in" and what a light she was. In memory of Audrey... or as we sons knew her... mom.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., on March 25th, 2023, at Departure Bay Baptist Church located at 3510 Departure Bay Rd, Nanaimo.
