February 8, 2021
It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved Allan Husbands, a devoted husband, father, brother, and poopa. After a long, hard-fought battle with heart and kidney disease, Allan left us on February 8th, 2021.
Allan was born in Birmingham, England to Alec and Irene Husbands. Allan served in the British military as a Sargeant for many years. Whilst in the forces, Allan travelled to numerous places. He served in North Africa, Greece, Bahrain in the Persian Gulf, Belgium, Germany as well as a place that would hold a special place in his heart, Belize. This is where he would meet his lovely Ruth in 1964.
Allan and Ruth married shortly after in 1965. After having their children, Peter and Debbie, Ruth and Allan picked up their lives and moved to Canada in October of 1974, in order to be closer to family. They first resided in Nanaimo, then Parksville, then Victoria, and eventually found a forever home in Duncan.
Allan, for the second time, became a Sargeant for the Commissionaires of Duncan where he met many of his friends. He would often go fishing with one of his closest friends, Ray Jones.
Allan leaves behind many loved ones including his wife Ruth Husbands, son Peter Husbands, daughter Debbie Vanderstap (Bryan), sister Ann Evans in England (predeceased by Ron), late brother Chris Husbands in England (Jennifer), brother-in-law's John Burn (predeceased by Errolyn) and Patrick Burn (Elsie), sister-in-law's Jenny Keep (Harold) and Jean Yates, grandchildren Anthony Vanderstap, Courtney Vanderstap, Laquisa Farkas-Husbands, and Ben Farkas-Husbands, as well as many loving nieces and nephews here and abroad.
A special thank you to Dr. Gilbert, Dr. Horgan, and all of the nurses at the Duncan and Royal Jubilee dialysis facilities. Allan is deeply loved and will be missed by
many. Due to the current circumstances, there was a service held for immediate family on February 16th, 2021 at 1pm. The service was streamed on H.W. Wallace Cremation & Burial Centre's website. Donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada in Allan's memory.
