March 21, 1940 - March 8, 2023
Al passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side, on his own terms, a smile on his face and "Comfortably Numb" playing softly.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Helen and Alexander, his sister, Florence and his brother, Ron (Cathy Hunter).
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons Timothy and Thomas (Michelle), his brother, James and his nephew, Jeff.
Born in Winnipeg he obtained his degrees in Science and Education at the University of Manitoba. Al taught school in Manitoba before moving to British Columbia where he taught briefly in Victoria and Port Alberni. He then spent the rest of his career teaching in School District 69.
He always smiled when he spoke about the day the whole brand new KSS High School with the state of the art laboratory had to be closed due to one of his experiments that went a little sideways. The students were happy I'm told, - not so much the Administration.
During his life Al was active in football, baseball, golf, ten pin bowling (Manitoba Doubles Champion), curling and slow pitch. He liked cooking (not cleaning up) and gardening (not pruning).
He loved walking our Aussies while his knees let him and feeding all the family's dogs over the years from the table.
Most recently he was fascinated by the pictures from the James Webb Telescope and spent long periods of time engrossed in their wonder.
We will miss him.
