June 15, 1926 – November 30, 2021
With heavy hearts, the family of Aileen Porter announce her recent passing. All who knew Aileen will remember her kindness, generosity, smile, sense of humour, as well as for her many pursued hobbies (dancing, sewing, knitting, baking, tai chi, belly dancing and making wine, just to name a few). However, Aileen’s greatest life-long passion was figure skating and it was on the ice where she forged many close bonds with people. Aileen was among the founding members of the Parksville Golden Oldies Sports Association, and was also active for many years in the local ice skating program, where she taught many people of all ages to skate. She was also an active member of Knox United Church, Parksville. Aileen made friends easily, and maintained those friendships throughout her long and happy life. Aileen is predeceased by her husband, John Porter, and is survived by daughters Christine (Ogilvie), April and Jennifer, granddaughter Kathleen, godchildren, and dear friends of all ages. She will be greatly missed. The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Trillium Lodge, Parksville, whose dedication and loving care ensured Aileen’s last 2 years of life were made safe and comfortable. A Celebration of Life will be held at an as-yet-to-be determined date. To receive notifications of the Celebration, or to leave condolences and remembrances, please visit
I’d like the memory of me
To be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an after glow
Of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
Whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun
Of happy memories
That I leave when life is done.
