UPDATE: Nanaimo pit bulls destroyed after attacking kids

Police report pair were seized and humanely euthanized

Two dogs that attacked a group of children in Nanaimo this weekend have been put down.

According to a release from Nanaimo RCMP, police and animal conrol officers located the dogs and their owner.

“Animal control seized the dogs and they were humanely euthanized,” said Const. Sara Clark, Nanaimo RCMP’s media relations officer. “The investigation is ongoing.”

At about 10 a.m. May 12, two off-leash, unsupervised dogs attacked a couple of youths and an adult while they were in yards of their Cinnibar homes in South Nanaimo. Numerous neighbours intervened and dogs were retrieved by their owner who took them back home.
