UPDATE: Man who was missing in Nanaimo’s Linley Valley found safe

Scott Brown was the subject of an all-day search Thursday

UPDATE: Nanaimo RCMP say the 50-year-old man who was missing yesterday has been located and is safe. Police expressed thanks to “everyone who shared, re-posted and actively searched for him.”

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Nanaimo RCMP have been searching all day and haven’t yet been able to find a missing Nanaimo man.

According to an updated press release Thursday night, RCMP started searching for 50-year-old Scott Brown in the early morning hours Thursday, June 11, and were continuing their efforts until nightfall. Police officers, with the help of RCMP Police Dog Services and air support, have focused their search in the Linley Valley, and will now “re-evaluate their investigative steps” as darkness sets in.

“Brown is experiencing personal issues and his family is extremely concerned for his safety and well-being,” the release notes.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Police in Nanaimo are asking for the public’s help in finding 50-year-old Scott Brown, who has not been seen since approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11.

According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, Brown left his north Nanaimo home on foot this morning, and the search for him is currently concentrating on various park lands scattered throughout the Hammond Bay area.

Due to actions he displayed, his family is extremely worried for his safety and well-being, the press release said.

Brown is a Caucasian, 5-foot-9 and heavy set. He is believed to be wearing green pants, brown slippers, black coat and a light blue hat.

Anyone who sees Brown, or knows of his whereabouts, is asked to call either 911 or the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
