Emergency crews called to scene at Gorge Bridge to treat two people pulled from water

A rescue operation took place on the shores of the Gorge Waterway Wednesday afternoon.

Reports indicate rescuers performed CPR on two people who had been in the water near the Gorge Bridge that connects Saanich with Esquimalt. Emergency crews were called to the scene at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The incident took place near the Gorge Narrows where currents are extremely swift.

Emergency officials were instructing motorists to avoid the area near Gorge Road and Tillicum Road.
