Some visitors to the Parksville area are on the lookout for their chocolate Labrador Retriever, Harley, who has been missing since Monday morning.

Anne Gallup was with her dog around 9 a.m. at Englishman River Falls Provincial Park on Feb. 20.

“We went for a walk at 8:30 and lost sight of her right by the parking lot, right by the shelter,” she said.

Gallup said Harley is friendly and food-motivated, but may be taking shelter somewhere difficult to locate, or tangled up on something.

She is especially worried because of the recent cold, wet and snowy weather, and a recent cougar sighting in the area.

Volunteers from FLED, AARF and ROAM have been helping with the search, in addition to many other people, Gallup said. The BC SPCA, local veterinary offices and RCMP have also been notified, she added.

“The community has been so helpful,” she said. “We even had someone come with a drone today, which was really awesome, and check out a couple of the river spots. I thought maybe she fell down a cliff.”

Gallup said she is offering a reward for Harley’s return, no questions asked. Anyone who finds Harley can call FLED at 250-479-0911 or Gallup at 250-884-6164.
