The B.C. Coroners Service has learned the identity of the man who died as a result of a fiery crash on Tzouhalem Road on Remembrance Day but his name will not be released.
“Due to the privacy of the deceased we do not confirm nor release identity,” said Coronors Service spokesperson Andy Watson.
He did note that the deceased was a man in his mid-20s.

North Cowichan Fire Department spokesperson Martin Drakeley said firefighters extracted the man from the SUV after getting the call for service minutes before 9 p.m.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation and police are looking for witnesses.
“If anyone has dash cam video footage from the area of Lakes Road and Tzouhalem Road on Monday night between 8:30-9 p.m. could you please contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP,” said Sgt. Trevor Busch, a spokesperson for the detachment. “Any witnesses to the crash, or to the driving behavior of a dark colored Ford SUV are also asked to call the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP and speak with investigators.”
