Nanaimo RCMP seek the public’s help in identifying a man accused of having trying to shoplift $500 worth of groceries last month.
In a press release issued today, Nov. 12, police referenced an incident from Oct. 22 at 2:30 p.m. at the Real Canadian Superstore location on Metral Drive. Police allege they were informed by store security that the man had been seen selecting a large number of products and subsequently leaving the store without paying.
The man was stopped by security in the parking lot and advised he was under arrest, said the press release. The man is then said to have surrendered the items and ran off across the parking lot, last seen headed east across Metral Drive.
The suspect is described as indigenous, about 5-foot-7 tall, with a slight build, about 20-25 years old. At the time of the incident he was wearing a disposable face mask, with a black Adidas jacket and Puma hoodie.
