A man accused of resisting arrest after a “violent struggle” with police two years ago is wanted by Nanaimo RCMP.
According to a press release, numerous warrants have been issued for Michael Bonson, 34, of Nanaimo, after he failed to appear in provincial court for charges of resisting arrest, five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a restricted firearm, possessing a prohibited weapon and fraud.
RCMP say Bonson has had numerous interactions with police across the central Island related to drugs and illegal weapons. In a September 2020 incident, Bonson allegedly resisted arrest related to drug possession, managed to avoid being subdued by an energy weapon, broke free and fled in his vehicle.
Bonson is described as 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, with short, blond hair, said RCMP, and sometimes sports facial hair.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345, quoting file No. 2019-35462.
