Around 25 demonstrators gathered on Sooke Road in front of the Evergreen Centre Wednesday afternoon to show their support for the nationwide Freedom Convoy as it makes its way to Ottawa.

Standing along the sidewalk, the demonstrators waved signs bearing slogans such as “Demand your rights,” “Stop the lies, we are not blind,” and “Stop illegal mandates.”

Like the larger Freedom Convoy movement, the demonstrators are voicing their opposition to government mandates introduced throughout the pandemic on the advice of public health experts. Mandates have included proof of vaccination requirements to enter many non-essential businesses and for truck drivers crossing borders.
